Spotlight Attorney - Taylor Dixon

What's your favorite part of working at Childers Hewett Slagle?

The culture. As a new associate, it has been very welcoming to work with people that are always willing to lend a hand, and that are passionate about what they do.

What’s one thing on your bucket list?

Attending a World Series game at Yankee Stadium

What are some career Lessons you've learned thus far?

Someone recently told me that focusing on learning 10% more than you knew yesterday will ensure that you are always making progress toward becoming a better lawyer.

What does a typical day look like for you?

I usually go to the barn before coming into the office to take care of my horse. I spend the rest of the day working through my tasks assigned to me by the Partners (and Sara), then head home. I typically ride my horse in the evening, walk my dogs, go for a run, and when feeling super ambitious I try a new recipe for dinner.

Why did you decide to pursue the career you have today?

I grew up in Delaware, in a very strong agricultural community. I was very active in the FFA during high school and also attended Fresno State, which is known as a strong agricultural school. Additionally, I really enjoyed accounting classes during my 4 years at Fresno. In law school Property law was my favorite first year course, so I started looking into real estate courses and other things of that nature. Through that I decided to take oil and gas and discovered a new favorite course. The subject felt right for me pretty quickly, considering my agricultural background and affinity for numbers.

What’s your favorite movie?

For Love of the Game is probably my favorite. I really enjoy sports movies, but I am also a huge Harry Potter fan.

Are you a sports fan? Who are your favorite teams?

I am a huge Yankees fan. I grew up collecting baseball cards with my Grandparents and attending games in Baltimore and the Bronx. Recently I started following football and basketball. I enjoy supporting the Dallas Mavericks and the Cleveland Browns. On the college level, I always enjoy keeping up with my alma mater, Fresno State Equestrian.

What’s your favorite holiday?

Probably Christmas. I really enjoy decorating my house for the holidays and seeing all the Christmas light displays. However, fall weather is my favorite and I love sweater season!

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

To play the piano
